Building envelope specialist the Lakesmere Group has won an £8m package from main contractor Carillion for cladding on the redevelopment of London Bridge station.

Lakesmere will start the first-phase of work at the new London Bridge station in June 2015.

The team will design, supply and install approximately 5,500m2 of glass reinforced concrete (GRC) wall and soffit cladding and 1,000m2 of stainless steel and polyester powder coated metal wall cladding.

The Lakesmere team will work on the station’s vast new open plan concourse at street level and a new upper level services building.

Lakesmere will also work on the redevelopment of some of the existing elements of the station and will produce bespoke GRC panels for use on the arches within the Western Arcade.

Phase two of Lakesmere’s package of works will commence in January 2017.
