Novus Property Solutions has upgraded the energy efficiency of 37 terraced properties in Skelmersdale as part of the Salvation Army Housing Association’s eco projects in the North West.

An extensive programme of planned works included the installation of new UPVC windows and doors at the properties on Caister Close, Skelmersdale, as well as the upgrade of gas central heating systems at the 37 homes.

As well as increasing the energy efficiency of the terraced houses, the improvements Novus carried out have helped to ensure that the properties comply with the Decent Homes Standard, which is a programme aimed at improving council and housing association homes to minimum standard of safety and repair.

The Salvation Army Housing Association (saha) is a leading provider of centres, foyers and move-on housing for single and homeless people throughout the UK.

Novus has built a long-standing relationship with saha and its partnering consultants, with all parties using their combined experience and knowledge of saha and its residents’ needs to meet the successful delivery of the project’s requirements.

The three-month project, with a contract value of £280,000, required Novus to take careful consideration of the occupants of the properties, installing temporary heating while the work was being carried out to ensure that the homes remained comfortable throughout the duration of the upgrade.

Dean Sitton, capital projects manager at saha, said: “We are pleased the project was successfully delivered with minimum disruption to residents. Early feedback from residents indicates their homes are now warmer, more comfortable and secure. These latest central heating systems and double glazed windows are a further contribution towards our commitment to continually improving energy efficiency and energy savings for our residents.

“Saha has a well-established relationship with Novus and they fully understand the importance we place on quality service delivery and customer satisfaction.”
