Chevin Housing Association has selected housing regeneration specialist Lovell to carry out £20m of improvement work for homes across Yorkshire over the next two years.
Work is now under way on the housing association’s whole house improvement programme which will also create significant training opportunities.
The programme covers homes in North, South and West Yorkshire and East Riding including properties in Barnsley, Castleford, Catterick, Doncaster, Driffield, Filey, Harrogate, Huddersfield, Hull, Leeds, Ripon, Rotherham, Sheffield, Wakefield and York.
The refurbishment scheme, which will vary according to the needs of particular properties, involves major replacement and improvement work including new kitchens and bathrooms; rewiring work; the installation of new heating systems; re-roofing work and replacement windows and doors. The scheme will see improvements to 565 homes over the next 12 months.
In line with its commitment to creating local training and job opportunities, Lovell will also provide a number of construction apprenticeships giving local people the chance to gain industry-recognised trade qualifications working on the programme. Twelve apprentices are set to be recruited in the first year of the scheme.
