Reading University has appointed framework partner ISG fit-out to deliver a £40m overhaul of its library at the Whiteknights Campus.

It is the second phase of the library’s redevelopment and will increase study space and improve its energy efficiency.

The exterior of the building will be totally re-clad and will have replacement windows fitted throughout.

The university is planning to cover the entire building with metal anodised rain screens, build a new entrance and a five storey extension.

During the revamp, the library will remain fully operational to students across the entirety of the redevelopment, with work anticipated to be completed by the end of 2019.

The refurbishment of the library is the first of several major capital projects in an ambitious programme of continuous improvement across our campus, focused on enhancing the learning experience of our students.
