Amtico has won the AJ Specification Award for Flooring for its work with architects Farrell & Clark at the Clothworkers’ South Building at the University of Leeds. The winner’s trophy was presented at the inaugural awards ceremony, held at the Principal in Manchester on Friday 15 February 2019.
When architects Farrell & Clark were brought in and tasked with a refurbishment of the entrance and stairwell at the Clothworkers’ South Building, Amtico’s versatile Signature collection was chosen. The LVT flooring successfully revitalised circulation in the area and signalled to visitors that they were entering a vibrant space of creativity. This was reflected in the comments by the AJ Specification Awards Judging Panel 2019, who stated: “This team has taken it way beyond what you might expect and delivered a creative and innovative solution on a budget which isn’t huge.”
Commenting on the accolade, Louisa Eyles, Commercial Marketing Manager at Amtico, said: “We are delighted with winning this award. It reflects the quality of our Signature flooring, as well as how we work closely with architects to achieve long-lasting, stunning designs.”
AJ Specification editor Robert Wilson introduced the awards in front of more than 200 guests, before former RIBA President and keynote speaker Stephen Hodder addressed the audience on the theme of ‘collaboration’. The ceremony itself was hosted by AJ editor Emily Booth.
The AJ Specification Awards recognise the key importance of collaboration between product and material suppliers/manufacturers and architects to the success of a building project – and celebrate innovative and creative use of products and materials in specific buildings that enhances or exceeds the brief. Regardless of size or scale of practice, all UK projects had to be completed between March 2017 and September 2018.
As with all Amtico’s premium LVT collections, Signature is designed and manufactured to world-class standards in the UK, ensuring continuity and guaranteed technical excellence.
