A joint venture between property firms Barratt London and the Hyde Group has received the greenlight to build hundreds of homes in Harrow.

Phase one of the Harrow View East scheme, designed by architects Pollard Thomas Edwards, will deliver 460 homes along with car parking and cycle storage facilities.

Additionally, the project will include an energy centre to accommodate future energy needs and more than 6,458 sq ft of community space.

Harrow View said the energy centre will retain the site’s “iconic” Kodak chimney.

Matt Calladine, Regional Land & Development Director at Barratt London said: “We are delighted to have secured reserved matters consent for the first phase of Harrow View East.

Tom Shaw, Operations Director (Development) at the Hyde Group said: “The Harrow View East site is a prime example of how partnerships, between organisations like Barratt London and Hyde, can deliver many of the new homes that the people of Harrow and London so desperately need.”
