Western Thermal, leading specialist engineers in thermal & acoustic insulation, ventilation ductwork, trace heating, and fire stopping, with over thirty years’ experience, has completed the first stage of thermal insulation work at Battersea Power Station and is in talks for the second stage of work.

Being the largest residential project this year for the Company, 100km of armaflex thermal insulation material was installed within all 862 apartments at the 42-acre site.

Michael Slater, Executive Operations Director at Western Thermal, said: “Battersea Power Station is just one of many landmark projects for us here at Western Thermal. We are proud of the work we have completed on site and are looking forward to continuing to work on the project again.

“It was important that we finished this project on time as private and social housing residents are now moving in, along with new commuter routes being provided. Delivering projects on time is a core function of how Western Thermal operates.”

Carillion is the main contractor, with Skanska Rashleigh Weatherfoil Ltd being Western Thermal’s client.

Western Thermal’s Thermal division is one of the country’s leading heating and ventilation insulation contractors. Its services meet the ever-increasing demands for both economic and environmental efficiency while meeting client specification and manufacturers’ recommendations, for both internal and external applications. The Company has also pioneered specialist insulation jackets using the latest thermal materials, which are both removable and reusable. These include valve and flange jackets, bespoke Plate heat exchanger jackets, which are used in international weather stations, and bespoke trace heated jackets, which are predominantly used within the food processing industry.

The division has contributed to numerous landmark projects including Heathrow Airport Terminal 5, Wembley Stadium, and Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. More recently, it has installed thermal insulation at Victoria Station, and worked on the redevelopment of Bond Street Underground Station, along with a number of University of Leeds projects including the Worsley building and the Edward Boyle Library.
