Subcontractors and materials suppliers from the Black Country are being invited to a free Meet the Buyer event in Walsall hosted by Constructionline on 8th June to find out about upcoming work in the area.
The event, which is being held at Banks’s (Bescot) Stadium, will allow small businesses in the area to discuss the latest construction opportunities with decision-makers from potential clients in the region.
Attendees from the public sector include Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council and the University of Wolverhampton. Representatives from Acivico Ltd., a company wholly owned by Birmingham City Council, will also be on hand to provide information about their new Building Fabric Repairs & Maintenance (BFR&M) initiative, which aims to create more flexible and collaborative work opportunities for SMEs on the Council’s future projects.
A range of private sector buyers will also be in attendance, including major contractors Kier, Wates and Mears, in addition to VINCI Facilities, gas safety experts Capita Gas Compliance Services, Black Country Housing Group and housebuilder United Living.
Attendees will also be able to take part in seminars at the event, hosted by key industry clients including NHS London Procurement Partnership, Speller Metcalfe and Bibby Financial Services. The sessions will give local businesses invaluable advice on how to win work.
Helen Wheeler, managing director at event sponsor Bibby Financial Services, said: “SMEs are vital contributors to the UK economy. We are proud to support this free event, which connects small sub-contractors with up-to-the-moment opportunities in construction and supports their ambitions in this important sector and region.”
Leo McMulkin, head of facilities management at Acivico Ltd., said: “We want to make it easier for SMEs in the area to win work and we’re looking forward to meeting potential new suppliers face-to-face to get a real sense of how joining our supply chain will help to bring our projects to life.”
Cheryl Wrench, client relationship manager at Constructionline, said: “Our Meet the Buyer events are designed to help small businesses really understand what it is that buyers in their regions are looking for so they can join robust, local supply chains. We’ll be on hand during the event with the latest advice on the processes involved with selection and tenders and, ultimately, help to make the buying process more accessible to everyone.”
The event is free and suppliers do not have to be Constructionline members to attend.
