These awards provide an opportunity for any project to gain recognition, no matter how spectacular. With four comprehensive categories including Interior project costing up to £1,999, Interior project between £2,000-£3,999, Interior project over £4,000 and Exterior project, all decorators have a chance to demonstrate their skill.

This years four deserving winners included: Aaron Davidson, Anthony Nolan, Nick Dodge and Grand Winner Trevor Mangan. The Dulux panel of painting and decorating experts who judged the categories highlighted the dedication and commitment from all four winners.

Aaron Davidson won the £1,999 and below Interior category for his outstanding work redecorating a domestic hall, stairs and landing. This extensive project required skill and expertise as the walls were in a bad state of repair.

Aaron spoke about his achievement: “I was taken aback when my name was called out. Winning the Dulux Decorator of the Year award has really helped me to raise my profile even more – and I am now booked up almost seven months in advance.”

Winner of the £4,000 and below Interior category, Anthony Nolan, demonstrated skill and expertise on his project, which included redecorating a former 19th century infant school and parish council dwelling – now a private domestic home since 2004.

Having previously won the award in 2017, Anthony knew the exceptional standards required to win: “This was a mammoth and unique task. I was so surprised to have won for a consecutive year and will definitely be entering the Dulux Select Decorator of the Year competition in the future.”

Nick Dodge, winner of the Exterior Project category, impressed judges with his commitment to both the preparation and finish of the project, showing remarkable attention to detail and premium customer service.

“It was a wonderful surprise to receive this award,” exclaimed Nick. “It is so satisfying to know that all of the hard work was worthwhile. I really valued the opportunity to see the work of other professionals throughout the award ceremony and stand alongside them as joint winners.”

The pinnacle award of the evening went to Trevor Mangan. His high level of technical skill, professionalism and customer service saw him win both the Interior category for projects priced between £2,000-£3,999 and the Grand Winner prize. Work was completed ahead of schedule whilst the family were away – with Trevor keeping them updated on the project’s progress.

“It was my client who suggested I entered the competition and I never imagined that I would actually win,” commented Trevor. “It is so rewarding to hear your name be called out and to have all of your efforts recognised and rewarded.”
