High performing new additions to the EJOT range of carbon steel concrete screws greatly extend the scope for easily achieving a secure, reliable attachment for metal fixtures in Option 1 cracked, non-cracked and hollowcore concrete, as well as other hard base materials.

Reflecting EJOT’s continued diversification, these latest developments provide further options when installing building elements, allowing for its JC2 self-tapping concrete screws to be used in an increased range of construction applications. These range from façade scaffolding, handrails, cable racks, formwork to warehouse racking and conveyor systems.

Importantly, as these concrete screws need no expansion, they can be used closer to the edge of the concrete and at smaller spacings than when using anchors. They are also easy to use and install, which can be a big time-saver on site.

Only a small pilot hole is required, which generates a relatively small amount of dust. Once this is removed from the hole, the screws are simply driven into place making them a versatile choice.

The JC2 range offers six fastener types designed by EJOT’s R&D teams in both Germany and the UK to offer superior performance in-situ along with hassle-free installation. All provide the independent assurance of European Technical Assessment (ETA) approval and are tested to offer fire resistance to 120 minutes (R120).

Five galvanised or zinc alloy coated carbon steel concrete screws form the core product range. The JC2-KB features a hexagon head with flange, the JC2-FR is a masonry screw with pan head and hexagon socket and the JC2- ST has a countersunk head and Torx drive – these three concrete screws are multi-purpose for attaching many different types of metal fixtures.

They are complemented by the JC2-IT, which features a hexagon head with combined internal thread M8/M10 specifically for installing pipe brackets and profile rails.

The final product in the core range is the JC2-KB Plus. This hexagon head concrete screw is available in four different drive types and four different head styles, with a design that offers significantly greater performance in terms of tensile strength and shear loading.

Richard Bowhay, Sales Manager for Building Fasteners at EJOT UK said: “Our expanded range of concrete screws is an important step in EJOT’s continued diversification which is providing precision-engineered fasteners to an ever broader customer base right across the construction industry. Whilst concrete screws are long established in the market, our R&D teams are always working to enhance all the fastening solutions we manufacture to ensure construction quality, efficiency and safety can be continuously optimised – this is what underpins our latest innovations.”

In addition to the core product range’s galvanised or zinc alloy coated carbon steel concrete screws, EJOT UK’s R&D has also developed an additional fastener with enhanced corrosion resistance and European Technical Approval (ETA). The JC6-KB is a bi-metallic concrete screw manufactured in A4 316 stainless steel with hardened carbon steel lead threads making it suitable for outdoor Option 1 concrete applications and approved for environmental classifications ranging from C1 up to C4, in accordance with BS EN 12944.
