Galliford Try has been selected as preferred bidder for two new major contracts in the student accommodation sector.

Existing Newcastle University student flats will be demolished and replaced by six new student accommodation blocks, ranging from four to 10 storieys

For Newcastle University it has been selected to construct the new £62m Park View Student Village, consisting of six new student accommodation blocks, ranging from four to 10 storeys.

The scheme replaces the existing 1970s buildings in Richardson Road, Newcastle and will feature a total of 1,279 study bedrooms. 

Demolition of the existing flats will start shortly with the new halls set to open for students in September 2018.

Galliford Try will also to build a £40m scheme for developer Regents Godiva that will be used by students Coventry University.

The 24,500 sqm scheme at Godiva Place in Coventry will create a 770-bedroom facility together with ancillary support facilities and car and cycle parking for students on the city centre site.
