Galliford Try Partnerships has won the contract for a £155m housing regeneration scheme from football club Queens Park Rangers and the Genesis Housing Association.
Located to the north of the new Old Oak Common HS2 and Crossrail station in west London The Oaklands rental housing project is the first development being brought forward at the vast Old Oak Common site which ranks as the largest UK regeneration scheme since the London Olympics.
The housing scheme will see the construction of 605 homes. Works will comprise the demolition of derelict buildings to make way for a new west London neighbourhood consisting 40% social and affordable homes – and upto 40,000 sq ft of commercial space.
The Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC), made up of local authorities and key stakeholders, is co-ordinating plans for housing, infrastructure, planning, development and regeneration across the overall site.
The group is currently working on a masterplan that will set out how the wider development will be taken forward.
QPR chief operating officer Mark Donnelly hailed the housing scheme as a significant step in it achieving towards its goal of building a new stadium.
