Leading architecture firm PRP has secured planning permission from Wiltshire Council on behalf of developer C Squared Property Developments for a ground breaking, private retirement living scheme in the historic market town of Chippenham.
Once complete, the for-sale development will provide 140 generously-sized one-, two- and three-bedroom units, as well as a lounge, library, activity room, residents’ gallery, therapy rooms and guest accommodation. Importantly, there will also be an onsite care team.
Social spaces and a vibrant commercial element create an environment that will foster independence, wellbeing and a community ethos for residents. A lounge and bar will be located on the top floor with access to a generous communal roof terrace, which will be used as a social area or an events space for a birthday or anniversary.
The commercial element of the design includes plans for a public café, deli, florist and gallery opposite the station, all of which are aimed at encouraging intergenerational communication.

Located just 300m from Chippenham town centre and adjacent to the town’s mainline railway station, the site is an ideal location for housing for older people.
The Monkton Park Conservation Area, a large public park and a community leisure centre, are located to the south-west of the site. It also benefits from views of the surrounding Cotswold & North Wessex AONB and the spires of St Andrew’s and St Paul’s churches.
