Howarth Timber & Building Supplies celebrates double BMF Diploma success
Two employees from leading builder’s merchants, Howarth Timber & Building Supplies, have received their BMF Diploma in Merchanting certificate following three years of hard work.
Hayley Parker, sales executive from Howarth Timber & Building Supplies’ Oldham branch and Thomas Howe, branch manager for its Manchester operation, started the programme in July 2017 and finished with Level 2 (Pass Plus) grades throughout.
They have since been accepted to progress onto the BMF Diploma in Merchant Management Foundation Degree.
Based around self-study modules and workshops, the BMF Diploma in Merchanting is designed as an advanced leadership and development course for managers and trainee managers. The course is specifically tailored to the needs of the builder and timber merchants’ sector, as well as building material manufacturers and distributors.
Nick Howarth, managing director for Howarth Timber & Building Supplies, commented: “For us as a business it is important that we invest in our people and we’re absolutely delighted that both Hayley and Thomas have received their BMF Diploma.
“Completing the course shows terrific determination and self-discipline and I know they have worked hard over the years across the self-study modules and assessments.
“Anyone who undertakes a qualification alongside full-time work knows that it’s not easy juggling both, as well as home life, so I want to congratulate them on their dedication and success and let them know that we’re very proud of them.”
Established in 1840, Howarth Timber & Building Supplies is the UK’s largest privately-owned timber company and marks its 180th anniversary in 2020.
