Winners of Ian Marsh Fire Award and Peter Greenwood Security Award announced.
Two industry leaders have been recognised by the Fire & Security Association (FSA) for their contribution to the sector, during last night’s IFSEC Security and Fire Excellence Awards in London.
Tony Maskens, who was BAFE Technical Schemes Manager until his retirement in 2016, won the FSA Ian Marsh Fire Award. Tony picked up the award for his efforts to raise industry standards, enhance quality control schemes and promote third party certification to companies and end users.
While Paul Tennant of Tavcom Training scooped the FSA Peter Greenwood Security Award. Paul was recognised for his commitment to raising standards and delivering high quality training. He is internationally respected for this work, with major clients in countries including Dubai.
Steve Martin, Head of the FSA and ECA Director of Technical, commented: “Many congratulations from the FSA to both Tony Maskens and Paul Tennant on winning FSA awards for their services to the fire, emergency and security industry over many years. With the FSA celebrating its 10th birthday this year, we are delighted to have two such fantastic ambassadors for our industry being recognised during the industry’s leading awards gala – IFSEC’s Security and Fire Excellence Awards.”
2017 marks the FSA’s 10th birthday. The FSA consists of member-firms of ECA, the leading electrotechnical and engineering services trade body, and Scottish electrical trade body SELECT.
The FSA awards are supported by industry bodies including the National Security Inspectorate (NSI), the Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Board (SSAIB), the Fire Protection Association (FPA) and British Approvals for Fire Equipment (BAFE).
Representatives from the FSA, ECA, SELECT, NSI and SSAIB were among the judges assessing the nominations for the two individual awards.
IFSEC’s Security and Fire Excellence Awards, which were hosted by top comedian Jimmy Carr on Wednesday 22 November, were attended by industry leaders including business owners and clients.
