Leading building services provider J S Wright has secured a contract worth than £7m to help turn a former industrial district of north London into a vibrant residential community.

The company, which is headquartered in Birmingham and has offices in London and Bristol, will fit out a mix of 252 new homes, including 82 affordable homes, at the stylish new London Square Caledonian Road mixed-use development in Islington.

J S Wright will supply and install a central energy centre with a combined heat and power boiler for the one-bed to three-bed apartments in a landmark series of pastel-hued buildings of up to 11 storeys arranged around an attractive courtyard.

The company will also equip each apartment with a heating interface unit to deliver low pressure hot water heating and boosted cold water, as well as provide underfloor heating, dry risers and building management system controls throughout the scheme, which is being developed by London Square.

J S Wright will also team up with its electrical partner Wilton Electrics to install an automatic opening ventilator (AOV) system for car park fire and smoke detection and protection at the scheme, which will also have business and community units.

The firm, which recently underwent a senior management buyout after the retirement of its previous owners, began work on site last month (March) with completion scheduled for May 2019.

Marcus Aniol, J S Wright Managing Director, said: “We are delighted to have been appointed by a new client to help transform this site into a major new mixed-use development, having successfully completed similar projects throughout London.”

J S Wright specialises in the design and installation of mechanical and electrical (M&E) services for the hotel, residential, social housing, student accommodation, leisure and commercial sectors.

The company was voted one of the UK’s Top Ten Specialist Contractors to Work For in the 2016 Construction Enquirer Awards, and named H&V News Building Services Contractor of the Year in 2015.
