Dave Sheridan, Chief Executive, Keepmoat states “Today, the Chancellor showed welcome support for our supply chain and the army of people looking to purchase their first home.

Our supply chain is made up of a range of small to medium sized businesses. The reform to business tax, reduction of business rates and corporation tax for small businesses will allow them to grow quicker and become more stable, which will only help the housing sector in the long term.  The cut in capital gains tax may encourage landowners to sell their land to developers without fear of high tax rates, which could open up more opportunities for building much needed homes.

As a top ten UK housebuilder, we support the Government’s move to combat homelessness and also to help people buy their first home, sooner. The new Lifetime ISA will work excellently in conjunction with the Help to Buy scheme to get more people onto the housing ladder.

Investment in critical infrastructure can help drive housing and we are pleased to see the announcement of transport improvements in the North, which will enable the economies of the North to really thrive.

Further devolution to local government should mean quicker, more effective planning. As an experienced partner of local authorities and housing associations across the UK, we are perfectly placed to help the local governments to build on their housing strategies.”
