The University of Leeds starts race to find contractor for £14m refurbishment of its student union building.

The Leeds University Union is a five-storey 11,000m2 building. It is in the centre of the campus, between University House and the Stage Leeds. It was built in 1937 but has been extended and refurbished several times since then.

Works comprise of a full refurbishment of the Riley Smith Hall, Raven Theatre, Mine Bar, Pulse Bar, the Lounge and Common Room, and retail area including the formation of a four storey atrium using an existing light well. A new south entrance structure is also to be built.
