Galliard Homes is planning to transform the former Whitbread headquarters in Luton into a new 119-apartment complex.

The Landmark will provide one of the largest new homes developments in the London commuter region specifically priced for first time buyers; parents buying for children and first time investors.

Prices for the 119 new apartments start from just £149,995. All the apartments are priced below £250,000 and 80% of the new homes are priced between £149,995 and £200,000.

Once the site of a millinery factory, The Landmark building was originally built in the 1970s and was known as Whitbread House. The 48,400 sqft building served as regional headquarters for Whitbread PLC, the multinational hotel, restaurant and leisure company, founded in 1794 and until 2001 best known as a brewery and publican business.

In 2005 Whitbread relocated to new premises in Dunstable and the building then had short-term tenants before being acquired by Galliard Homes. Now Galliard Homes are transforming the headquarters building into a stylish new residential address, with build completion scheduled for summer 2018.

Fronting onto Park Street West and Flowers way, The Landmark has a striking four storey glass, brick and alloy-panelled façade with hotel style main entrance foyer and reception area and a central courtyard. The courtyard is being transformed into a private communal space for residents, with new seating and planting.

The building has lift and staircase access to all floors with covered parking and plant rooms on the lower ground level and new apartments on the raised ground, first and second floors.

David Galman, Sales Director at Galliard Homes said: “The Landmark will provide stylish contemporary homes with a level of luxury rarely attainable outside the capital. The project will set a new quality benchmark in the Luton new homes market and if our previous starter homes launches are anything to go by we may have queues and rapid sales.”
