Morgan Lovell has been appointed by fast-growing financial services business, MotoNovo Finance, to design and build the interiors for its new £4.5m Cardiff office and customer service centre.
Located in the city’s enterprise zone, the office move has been supported by Welsh government funding as part of a £100m investment into Cardiff and will see the creation of over 580 additional jobs.
With works due to begin in June, Morgan Lovell’s appointment will include the Cat B design and build of over 71,000 sq ft of office space, set across five floors in Cardiff’s Central Square development.
Designed by Foster & Partners, the building is the capital’s newest high-rise building and an integral component of the wider scheme which, on completion, will provide over 1m sq ft of new office, residential and retail space.
After 10 years at its previous location, MotoNovo’s new address will be more than double the size, to better suit the company’s rapid growth. MotoNovo is looking to increase its headcount from 470 to over 1,000 team members in the next five years, whilst still maintaining its position as one of the best companies to work for (currently ranked sixth best place to work by The Sunday Times 2016). Protecting and maintaining the company culture is a core aspect of this project. As such, Morgan Lovell has been brought on board to design a number of wellbeing facilities, including a canteen, multiple breakout areas and a gym.
Managing director of Morgan Lovell southern Colin Allan said: “This project is particularly exciting because it means so much to the client and the local economy; it holds great promise for the city’s business community and jobseekers. Having been previously based in an office that restricted its ability to meet the needs of staff, we’ve now been able to design back in some of the key features that MotoNovo had to sacrifice before due to its rapid growth. We’re delighted to have this opportunity to help MotoNovo create a space that suits its business ethos and goals, and I look forward to starting work later this year.”
