Families are now starting to move into 20 new council homes in Top Valley, Nottingham – just in time for Christmas.
The 13 two-bed houses, five four-bed properties and two two-bed flats are built to high energy efficiency standards and offer warm, secure and affordable modern homes for Nottingham families on the city council’s waiting list.
Nottingham City Homes (NCH) and contractor Robert Woodhead Ltd have built the 20 new council houses on behalf of Nottingham City Council off Knights Close, Top Valley
The development has also been named after a much-loved local ward councillor, who sadly died in 2017. The new site is now called Alan Clark Grove and a naming celebration event is planned for next year with his wife and fellow councillor, Eunice Campbell-Clark.
These new homes are the latest of the Building a Better Nottingham developments in the north of the city. So far, the Build a Better Nottingham programme has enabled over 600 new council homes to be built for local people, with more expected over the next few years.
Nick Murphy, Chief Executive for Nottingham City Homes, said: “These houses are a fantastic asset to Top Valley and have helped to transform the neighbourhood. I am happy to see that tenants will have moved in and be enjoying these new homes in time for Christmas too.
“We want to build homes which people can feel proud to live in. The waiting list and the need for affordable homes is growing, and we are committed to working with the Council to build more homes for the people of Nottingham.”
Cllr Linda Woodings, Portfolio Holder for Planning and Housing at Nottingham City Council, said: “It’s great to see, how a site which was no longer fit for purpose, has been transformed into quality new affordable council homes to rent for families who need them.
“Together with Nottingham City Homes and other partners, we’re developing a mix of properties across the city, from much-needed family housing to bungalows and flats, which meet the needs of local people in Nottingham”.
