Leading fire resistant glazing manufacturer Promat UK has published detailed technical information on its latest solutions for architects and developers in its 2022 SYSTEMGLAS® Specifiers Guide.

New additions to the Promat UK range provide more ways for doors, screens and glazing features to be designed and built to achieve a high level of assured fire resistance. Extending the existing SYSTEMGLAS range of fire resistant glazing systems, which are available in several different framing options, and all fully tested to ensure they will perform in the event of a fire, are three complementary products detailed in the guide.

The SYSTEMGLAS Stratum glass floor system is ideally suited to meet the growing trend for using glazing as a flooring element in high-end residential properties, as well as commercial and public buildings. SYSTEMGLAS Stratum is a contemporary load bearing glazed floor system constructed from a combination of fire rated and non-fire rated glasses which can be installed as single modules or as multiple modules for larger areas in accordance with testing criteria.

The second addition to the range is SYSTEMGLAS® F1, which enables integrity and insulation (EI) fire protection of up to 120 minutes to be incorporated into much larger glass sizes. It is a double glazed unit formed using two panels of single pane safety glass (ESG) and a cavity injected with an innovatively formulated intumescent gel that optimises clarity and UV stability throughout the glass unit’s service life.

Finally, the updated SYSTEMGLAS Specifiers Guide includes technical details on its new range of fire rated timber doors which are ideal for internal applications. These ensure doors can be integrated seamlessly from a single supply source into glazing elements created using SYSTEMGLAS Ligna, Promat UK’s fire resistant timber-framed glazing system.

Cath McLean, Segment Manager – Glass at Promat UK, said: “With the quality and performance assurance that we offer across the whole SYSTEMGLAS range, backed with complete traceability from raw material sourcing to post-installation checking, incorporating passive fire protection into all areas of the project’s glazing is easier than ever.

“The three new product groups with the SYSTEMGLAS range have all be rigorously tested by independent testing specialists as part of their product development programme, so we know that they will perform as promised. On every project we work closely with architects and contractors throughout the design, manufacture and installation process. This ensures all glazing elements are created completely in line with the technical specification – it is a crucial attention to detail that eliminates the margin for error to prevent catastrophic failure.”

The existing Promat SYSTEMGLAS range provides a fire resistant glazing solution in a choice of four types of frames with performance up to EI120. Steel framed fire resistant glazing elements can be created using SYSTEMGLAS Ferro, with SYSTEMGLAS Ligna offering the same performance levels in timber. Two other options use framing made from Promat PROMATECT® H – a highly fire resistant calcium silicate based material – to offer frameless glazing and painted or overclad frames.
