Mechanical and electrical services specialist J S Wright has expanded its project team with the appointment of Simon Newland as Mechanical Project Manager.

Based at the London office of the Birmingham-based company, Simon has worked in the building services industry for 20 years.

He was previously project manager for a district heating network specialist and before that contracts manager for a housing-based M&E services provider.

Simon has worked on major UK projects including a new energy centre and district heating pipework for the Ladderswood estate redevelopment in Enfield and 13 new-build schemes for leading developers.

The former soldier, who lives in Kettering, is currently managing a contract to manufacture, supply and install mechanical services for a new 300-home housing scheme at Lea Bridge Road in Leyton for housebuilder Hill.

Qualified in domestic and commercial gas, LPG domestic and commercial and oil-based services, he also holds Levels 2 & 3 City & Guilds certificates in plumbing.

Simon self-funded the first stages of his plumbing training while working as an HGV lorry driver before joining a small building company in Leighton Buzzard.

Marcus Aniol, Managing Director of J S Wright, said: “Simon’s experience and determination will be major assets as we continue to expand our residential business as a preferred supplier of mechanical and electrical services to major developers throughout the South East.”

Founded in Birmingham in 1890, J S Wright designs and builds mechanical and electrical services for the hotel, residential, social housing, student accommodation, leisure and commercial sectors.

The company, which has offices in Bristol and London, was voted one of the UK’s Top Ten Specialist Contractors to Work For in the 2016 Construction Enquirer Awards and is shortlisted for this year’s H&V News Building Services Contractor of the Year Award.
