Novus Property Solutions has given a West of Scotland Housing Association community centre a new lease of life with a full interior redecoration as part of its extensive CSR programme.
The Barrowfield Community Centre, based in the Camlachie area to the East of Glasgow, is operated by Willowacre Trust – the subsidiary organisation of West of Scotland Housing Association (WSHA) – and is home to a number of local charitable organisations. With a packed programme of weekly activities including IT skills classes, parent and toddler groups, football training and dance classes, it’s a vital resource used by the whole community but the centre was in need of a refresh.
Novus Property Solutions is currently working with WSHA as part of a three year programme of works to upgrade its housing stock and was quick to offer its help to revitalise the Barrowfield Community Centre – ensuring the whole community can continue to enjoy it for years to come.
The property maintenance, refurbishment and new build contractor redecorated the centre’s large function hall, office areas, café, computer room and training room, brightening up the whole centre. The team from Novus’ Bathgate office all worked tirelessly on the project, which took place over the course of three weeks, while Dulux provided the paint and materials required.
Maisie O’Brien, community and support services manager for WSHA stated: “WSHA and its subsidiary Willowacre Trust work to ensure that we maximise the community benefits within our contracts, offering new opportunities for our tenants or transformational change within our communities. We extend our thanks to Novus for supporting the works within our community centre”.
James Wilson, painting contracts manager from Novus Property Solutions in Bathgate added: “When we were approached by WSHA, we were only too happy to help and we’re hoping to repaint the exterior of the centre next year now too.
“As a company we place a great deal of emphasis on our corporate and social responsibility – something which has become an integral part of our work with housing associations like WSHA. It’s always great to be able to give something back to the communities we work with on projects like this.”
