Novus Property Solutions has secured a number of extensive refurbishment contracts at academies and universities across the UK this summer.
The national property maintenance, refurbishment and new build specialist will be working with five academies on scheduled works ranging from small redecoration projects to large-scale refurbishments. Works will be carefully scheduled to be carried out over the summer holiday period to avoid disruption to pupils and staff where possible.
In Staffordshire, Novus will be undertaking a programme of fire compartmentation works at Chesterton Community Sports College to the value of £462,000, as well as a £140,000 refurb for Holden Lane Primary School in Stoke-on-Trent. The primary school is part of the City Learning Trust along with Haywood Academy, which Novus has completed a number of projects for in recent years.
In the North East, Novus will be turning its attention to Percy Hedley School in Newcastle to undertake refurbishment works valued at close to £100,000. The project will improve the facilities at the school which aims to make a difference to the learning, wellbeing and future life chances of children with additional needs. Novus will also be undertaking a £270,000 refurbishment including the removal of external wall cladding, and asbestos before installing new EWI and windows at Barnwell Academy through the government’s new Condition Improvement Fund.
This summer the team from Novus’ Manchester office will be completing maintenance and painting works at Manchester Grammar School. Redecoration works previously completed by Novus for the school’s ornate Memorial Hall were highly commended at the Professional Decorating Association’s Premier Trophy Awards two years ago.
In addition to its work with schools and academies, Novus has also secured contracts with several universities to refurbish their student accommodation facilities.
Works include upgrading two apartment buildings at the prestigious University of St. Andrews in Scotland and refurbishing the communal kitchens at David Moxon Annexe and Chantry student residences at Southampton Solent University. This summer teams from Novus will also be carrying out various alterations as part of a large refurbishment at Meadow Court Lodge for the University of Leicester, kitchen replacements at Aston University in Birmingham and a programme of refurbishment works including flooring, plumbing, electrical works and internal redecoration at the University of Worcester.
Novus has also recently secured a large exterior refurb contract with Homes for Students in Liverpool plus a maintenance and refurbishment contract with iQ Students in Bristol. The £600,000 contract with iQ Students covers various works including redecoration, flooring and lighting upgrades as well as kitchen and bathroom replacements.
