Health and Safety North and Fire Safety North are set to return to EventCity, Manchester for a third edition in just one month’s time.
The event, which takes place on 8-9 October 2019, is the biggest of its kind in the North of England, is THE place to test the latest technology, select the most up-to-date solutions and confer with like-minded professionals.
This year will see increased number of visitors with more than 2000 delegates expected to attend and even more equipment on display. New exhibitors include Respirex International, Checkmate Fire, Unigloves, The Fire Protection Association, Achilles Information and more.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has also confirmed its presence on stand H82, where experts will showcase a range of solutions to help duty holders. This includes guidance, publications and products, training and events, testing and monitoring, research and consultancy.
What to watch when working at height will be the theme for the Access Industry Forum (AIF) on stand E75. For the first time the stand will feature IPAF’s virtual reality (VR) training simulator. The very latest in training technology, the motion base of the basket makes it feel as though you’re moving on a mobile elevating work platform (MEWP) while engaging in the virtual world of a job site. The simulator can be set to any level of VR programme depending on the skill of the operator.
Unmissable content
Content will once again be at the heart of the event with 30+ hours of CPD accredited content on offer across three theatres. These will feature educational seminars, industry debates and practical presentations.
Health and Safety North offers two unique theatres packed with educational content. The HSM Knowledge Exchange theatre features panels of experts taking part in interactive question and answer sessions with the audience on a range of pertinent health and safety topics. This initiative is actively supported and sponsored by Health and Safety Matters (HSM), the leading publication for the health and safety sector.
The main conference theatre is curated by The British Safety Council and will include presentations from leading industry figures and associations including Lawrence Waterman OBE, Neal Stone, Mates in Mind and the Health and Safety Executive. Topics on the agenda include promoting health and wellbeing, the impact of revised sentencing guidelines and influencing health and safety culture.
A new addition to this year’s event is the Ejendals Safety Academy, which will take place on day one and will discuss protecting hands and feet and the importance of wellbeing in the workplace and beyond. Delegates will be able to participate in interactive workshops and test out various products at the different workstations including FSS. They will also be able to network over a special Nordic lunch.
Fire Safety North
Fire Safety North is dedicated to supporting fire and safety professionals to achieve and maintain the very highest standards of fire safety management. Every year the events are prided on gathering the industry’s most respected voices to share fresh perspectives and insights on the challenges and solutions of today. This year is no exception.
The Fire Safety Keynote Theatre, sponsored by Advanced, is curated by Fire Safety Matters magazine and boasts sessions that include the future of fire safety laws post Grenfell, which will be delivered by The Fire Sector Federation and The FPA. BAFE chief executive Stephen Adams will explain how you can ensure fire safety competency, while lawyer Kathryn Turner will probe delegates on if their building is compliant with fire safety laws.
The highlight of both events will be a mock trial delivered by leading fire safety lawyer Warren Spencer who has prosecuted more cases than anyone else in the UK under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Delegates will be the judge and jury for the re-enactment of a real-life trial, which examines the role of Responsible Person.
