Fit out and refurbishment specialist Overbury has completed the interiors of a new head office and showroom for iconic British brand Fred Perry in Clerkenwell, London.

The refurbishment of 27,000 sq ft in a historic Victorian warehouse supports Fred Perry’s move from its long-term address in Covent Garden to a trendy corner of London. In 2015, the company leased two 19th century warehouse buildings on the corner of Mount Pleasant and Warner Street, opposite a former Royal Mail Sorting Office.

Working closely with architects Buckley Gray Yeoman, Overbury delivered the fit out of seven floors, which included the installation of new floors, ceilings, walls and mechanical and electrical systems. Following a tight four month programme, the result is a contemporary space that reflects the brand’s authentic British nature and delivers an enhanced experience for visitors and employees.

The new space brings the brand’s head office and showroom under one roof. Within both spaces, Overbury installed specific feature lighting and directional spot lighting, as well as state-of-the-art technology and security systems. Overbury also worked with the base build contractor, Willmott Dixon, as well as Buckley Gray Yeoman, on ensuring the history of the building wasn’t diminished or lost during the works. As well as having to retain an iconic façade, the team also had the challenge of working around World War II damage plaques, located in the north stairwell.

Overbury managing director in London, Andy Paton, says: “This has been an exciting project from the beginning and we’re thrilled with the outcome. With the Fred Perry brand having such a rich history, it was important that the brand was echoed throughout the new spaces while still giving a contemporary feel that meets today’s standards. It’s great to see that we were able to achieve this working alongside Buckley Gray Yeoman and Willmott Dixon, and we hope they enjoy their new home.”
