The London Borough of Barnet has appointed GRAHAM Construction as its Partner for its £150m portfolio of major works on a five-year basis (with the option to be extended to 7 years). The works will include the enhancement of education, community, leisure and operational assets across the borough.
GRAHAM Construction will now deliver both improvements and new build works as part of the council’s Capital Projects pipeline. The work will be carried out across the next five years and will begin with two already approved leisure centre schemes and school developments.
Barnet is the most populated borough in London and the framework aims to deliver a broader and more varied range of facilities that will include new schools, leisure centres and community centres to meet the needs of a growing and increasingly diverse community.
Councillor Richard Cornelius, Leader of Barnet Council, said: “As our borough expands so does the need for us to provide more housing, school places, leisure centres and community facilities for our residents, which is why we are investing £565 million in the future of the borough. Barnet has a good track record of building major projects on time and on budget and this new partnership with Graham provides us further opportunity to deliver key buildings which will serve our residents for many years to come.”
Rod McMullan, GRAHAM Construction’s Director for the Partnership, said: “The London Borough of Barnet framework focuses on quality, value, and cost certainty and we are confident that the knowledge and experience gained from our extensive ongoing education portfolio and Inner-London projects such as the redevelopment of Kingsgate Primary School in the neighbouring borough of Camden, will ensure the council’s Capital Projects pipeline is delivered on time and within budget.
“We are looking forward to working with the council and the wider team to further improve the range and quality of council services and strengthen Barnet’s reputation as a thriving environment.”
The announcement comes just three months after GRAHAM Construction was appointed to the Department of Health’s ProCure22 framework.
GRAHAM Construction operates throughout the UK and Ireland and this framework represents another milestone in the growth of its North London office, situated in St. Alban’s.
