Leading specialist contractor, County Contractors, who carry out major refurbishments for companies such as Boots the Chemist, Hilton, Marriott and Sheraton hotels, are celebrating their 40th year in business with a record turnover during the last financial year.

The company, founded in 1976, has grown and developed its business over the last 40 years from its base in Weston-super-Mare and has achieved an annual turnover of more than £56 million during 2015/16.

The retail division of County Contractors has many high street brands as clients, including Boots the Chemist, where a complete shop-fitting service is carried out to stores throughout the UK, and have been working continuously with them since the company’s formation 40 years ago.

County Contractors’ renowned hotel division has recently secured a new contract and is in the process of refurbishing the iconic Lancaster London Hotel overlooking Hyde Park including refurbishing its 400+ guestrooms and suites over an 18-month period with a project value of £39 million. The first phase is nearing completion to the exceptional standard required for the owners in their journey to return as The Royal Lancaster London.

Sally Beck, the general manager of the Lancaster London commented: “This is a major refurbishment and rebranding project of our much loved hotel as part of our journey to Royal and I am delighted with how County Contractors are performing. They totally understand the business and have been highly respectful of this on a daily basis to our guests and staff.

“County Contractor’s company mission ‘Trust us to Deliver’ aligned perfectly with our own hotel vision statement ‘We Always Care’ and this approach coupled with their credibility, pricing and personalities involved has ensured a hugely successful project. I would absolutely recommend them to any other hotel.”

During 2016, the hotel division of County Contractors refurbished over 2500 bedrooms in 12 prestigious hotels in London and throughout the UK.

The company’s growth has continued throughout all of its divisions and alongside the hotel and retail divisions, the reactive maintenance division has also seen considerable growth recently. The division operates 24 hours, 365 days per year and is structured to service multi-site customers delivering 800-1000 reactive and planned maintenance calls per month to major high street retailers, banks, building societies, public services, healthcare and social housing clients.

The company celebrated its 40th anniversary in style on Weston-super-Mare’s iconic Grand Pier in December. As part of the celebrations County Contractors staff, suppliers and sponsors helped to raise £48,000 mainly through completing a Coast-to-Coast 260 mile cycle ride. The six beneficiaries were Cancer Research UK, Alzheimer’s Research UK, Guide Dogs, West of England Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre, Weston Hospicecare and Weston General Hospital’s Scanner Appeal.

Ray Heathman, founder and Chairman of County Contractors said: “Having started the business back in 1976 from humble beginnings with one painter, we now employ over 190 highly skilled professionals, each and every one of whom is empowered to take responsibility to deliver exceptional customer satisfaction.
I believe that it’s because of this effort and dedication that the business has been so successful and I remain extremely optimistic for 2017 and beyond.”

The business has a number of key projects in the pipeline during the year including another iconic 900 bedroom hotel in central London, as the company aims to continue with its expansion program with the support of their staff, sub-contractors and clients and County Contractors thank them for all of their support over the years.
