Wigan Council is renewing its panel of builders to deliver a backlog of schools repairs and new buildings.

The council expects to spend around £50m over the next four years to 2021. This will be split into around £15m small works up to £1m and around £35m of total spending on projects worth £1m-£5m.

Ten firms were previously selected for the panel four years ago when its ambitious £275m BSF school programme was culled by then education secretary Michael Gove.
