Leading councillors have welcomed the completion of four new homes, which will be available exclusively for residents waiting on the council’s Homeseekers’ register.
Sempra Homes, the council’s house building company, has completed on the two-bed houses which have parking for residents and visitors and meet national space standards.
Leader of Basildon Council Councillor Andrew Baggott attended the site in Thackeray Row, Wickford, alongside Chairman of the Housing Committee Councillor Andrew Schrader on Friday 9 July.
Councillor Andrew Baggott said: “This is a smart development by Sempra on a patch of previously wasted land that adds value to the area. It’s a scheme that we should be proud of.
“Sempra was set up with the aim of building high-quality and affordable homes for our residents and we are delivering. Our task now is to accelerate more housing delivery through Sempra.”
Councillor Andrew Schrader said: “We are committed to building more houses to help more people from Basildon get into high quality homes in our borough. And not just one type of housing, we’re building houses with different tenure options to give people more choice.
“These houses are a welcome addition and I am very proud they will be made available exclusively to borough residents.”
Melanie Keys, Manager of Sempra Homes, added: “I am absolutely delighted to bring forward this latest Sempra Homes development for residents on the Council’s Homeseekers’ register.
“The homes are of a great quality and will make a lovely home for residents now and for future generations. I look forward to welcoming the residents to their new homes very soon.”
